In a new milestone added to Cairo University’s track record in supporting innovation and entrepreneurship, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has announced the preliminary approval of the “Entrepreneurial University” alliance, led by Cairo University. The alliance has been selected as part of the presidential initiative “Tahaloof & Tanmia,” according to an official letter issued by H.E. Prof. Dr. Mohamed Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

Cairo University’s Readiness
Cairo University’s selection comes after a rigorous evaluation process that reviewed 104 proposals submitted by various thematic alliances. The evaluation was based on three key criteria: quality of the concept, readiness of partners, and feasibility of implementation. The preliminary approval confirms the readiness of Cairo University and its partners to implement an integrated national model that promotes innovation and economic development in Egypt.

Advancing Innovation and Entrepreneurship
Prof. Dr. Mohamed Sami Abdel-Sadek congratulated the Cairo University community and the alliance partners on this well-deserved achievement, emphasizing that it reflects confidence in the university’s ability to lead national projects that foster innovation and entrepreneurship.
He added that the preliminary approval of the “Entrepreneurial University” alliance marks an important step toward establishing a comprehensive ecosystem that links education and scientific research with industry, enabling the transformation of ideas into projects and startups that contribute to sustainable development. He reaffirmed the university’s commitment to implementing the alliance’s ambitious plans and building a competitive university environment that supports innovation, entrepreneurship, and the preparation of graduates and entrepreneurs capable of driving sustainable development—strengthening the university’s role as a catalyst for economic and social progress in Egypt.

Transforming Ideas into Projects
Dr. Ghada Abdelbary, Advisor to the University President for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, affirmed that the selection of the “Entrepreneurial University” alliance reflects the strength of Cairo University’s innovation ecosystem and its ability to convert ideas into projects and startups that serve the national economy.
The “Entrepreneurial University” project aims to build an integrated system within Cairo University that effectively links education, scientific research, and labor market needs, while enabling the transformation of research ideas into scalable products and startups—contributing to job creation and long-term economic and developmental impact.

Alliance Partners
The alliance includes seven key partners from both the public and private sectors:
- Cairo University – Academic Coordinator and Alliance Lead
- BasharSoft (WUZZUF & FORASNA) – Digital technology and smart employment solutions
- iCareer – Skills development, career guidance, and entrepreneurship
- Egypt Entrepreneurship & Innovation Center (EEIC) – Government partner supporting national policy frameworks
- Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise Development Agency (MSMEDA) – Funding and incubation support
- EdVentures – Nahdet Misr – Venture capital specializing in education and technology
- Endure Capital – Venture capital and investment in high-growth startups
Cairo University’s Intellectual Property Investment & Management Company plays a pivotal role in managing the alliance and the intellectual property framework, supporting the commercialization of research outputs and strengthening cooperation with the industrial sector to maximize the value of knowledge.
