Capital University’s Technology Incubation Office Hosts 19 Startups

As part of Capital University’s (formerly Helwan University) strategic direction toward fostering a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship and supporting a knowledge-based economy, 2025 marked a milestone year for the University’s Technology Incubation Office.

During the year, the office incubated 19 startups, graduated 9 startups into the Egyptian market, and launched two new technology incubators in the fields of Arts and Education, bringing the total number of university incubators to five specialized technology incubators.

Integrated Portfolio of Programs and Activities

The Technology Incubation Office implemented a comprehensive portfolio of programs, activities, and specialized initiatives aimed at empowering students and researchers to transform creative ideas into scalable and sustainable startups.

These efforts were carried out under the patronage of Dr. El-Sayed Kandil, President of Helwan University, Dr. Emad Abu El-Dahab, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, and the supervision of Dr. Ehab Abdel Raouf, Director of the Technology Incubation Office.

This distinguished achievement represents a strong launchpad for 2026, during which the University will continue to strengthen its leadership role in building an integrated university innovation ecosystem and reinforcing its position as a hub for entrepreneurship and technology at both academic and community levels.

A Successful Model for University Innovation

Dr. El-Sayed Kandil, President of the University, affirmed that Capital University has presented a successful model for integrating higher education with innovation and entrepreneurship. He highlighted the University’s strong commitment to supporting applied research and enabling young innovators and researchers to transform their work into productive projects that contribute to economic and societal development.

He added that 2026 will witness further expansion of incubation programs, with plans to support up to 30 startups, alongside strengthening partnerships with innovation-supporting entities, further positioning the University as a nurturing environment for entrepreneurs and innovators.

Supporting Innovation and the Knowledge Economy

Dr. Emad Abu El-Dahab, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, stated that the University has been a pioneer in technology incubation and entrepreneurship, emphasizing that technology incubators are among the most effective tools for supporting innovation and transitioning toward a knowledge-based economy.

He noted that incubators are a strategic priority for the University, serving as a vital link between scientific research outputs and real societal and market needs.

Comprehensive Incubation Programs

Dr. Ehab Abdel Raouf, Director of the Technology Incubation Office, explained that the achievements of 2025 reflect the scale of collaboration between various university sectors and external partners. He noted that the office successfully implemented incubation programs for 19 startups in cooperation with the Intilaaq Program at the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology.

Additionally, 9 startups graduated from the Biocluster Incubator, receiving comprehensive incubation support spanning from the idea stage to final product development.

He concluded that these results provide strong motivation to continue expanding efforts in 2026, with a focus on attracting more innovative ideas and broadening specialized incubators aligned with Capital University’s areas of excellence.
