Entlaq, in collaboration with Keheilan Asset Management, convened a specialized Biotechnology Roundtable as part of its Advanced Industry & DeepTech Series.
Biotechnology Landscape
The roundtable brought together regulators, researchers, investors, corporates, and ecosystem enablers to examine the structural realities shaping Egypt’s biotechnology landscape. Discussions moved beyond surface-level challenges to address critical issues including commercialization pathways, regulatory coordination, customs processes, talent alignment, and investor confidence.
Scientific Depth
Participants emphasized that while Egypt possesses strong scientific depth and research capabilities in biotechnology, the ecosystem remains fragmented. Bridging the gap between research and market, clarifying institutional responsibilities, strengthening commercialization filters, and restoring investor confidence through credible ecosystem mapping were identified as key priorities.
Biotechnology
The discussion underscored that biotechnology is no longer a niche sector, but a strategic pillar for food security, health resilience, industrial biotechnology, and import substitution. With significant annual imports of enzymes and proteins, the opportunity for localized value creation is substantial.
Participants agreed that the next phase requires structural coordination and a coherent national direction to unlock the sector’s full potential.
Ecosystem Alignment
Entlaq reaffirmed its belief that ecosystem alignment, rather than isolated initiatives, will determine whether Egypt captures the next wave of deeptech-driven growth, and expressed its commitment to continuing the dialogue alongside Keheilan and partners across the ecosystem.
