BasharSoft Acquires iCareer to Consolidate JobTech Influence in MEA

BasharSoft, the Egyptian company behind the popular online job platforms Wuzzuf and Forasna, has fully acquired iCareer, Egypt's largest employment consultancy specializing in large-scale employment programs and career solutions. This strategic acquisition significantly strengthens BasharSoft's influence, allowing it to deepen its local impact in Egypt and rapidly expand its presence in the GCC markets, particularly following its recent launch in Saudi Arabia.
BasharSoft, founded in 2009, already operates a massive ecosystem that has connected over 9 million job seekers with more than 100,000 employers, resulting in an estimated 1.4 million hires. By integrating iCareer, which is renowned for its career guidance programs and partnerships with major organizations (including government ministries, top universities, and multinational companies like Vodafone, PepsiCo, and P&G), BasharSoft gains crucial field expertise to complement its existing technology and data.
The acquisition also includes Recruitera, iCareer’s Applicant Tracking Software (ATS SaaS), which will be integrated with Wuzzuf and Forasna to offer employers a more efficient, all-in-one recruitment workflow. According to Ameer Sherif, Co-founder and Executive Chairman of BasharSoft, this move is part of a broader strategy to acquire and consolidate other players in the JobTech and HR space across the Middle East and Africa (MEA).
