Through the GovTech Innovation Lab, startups will gain access to a wealth of resources, including extensive training programs, coaching, mentorship, and networking opportunities. This comprehensive acceleration program is designed to equip entrepreneurs with the skills and knowledge needed to prototype and test innovative citizen-centered solutions. By collaborating with citizens, government authorities, and private sector partners, startups will have the opportunity to co-create tailored solutions that address major societal challenges.

The initiative targets startups seeking to address societal challenges and develop innovative solutions to deliver government services. Its objectives include:

  • Creating a supportive environment for the growth of startups in government technology.
  • Improving the quality of services provided to citizens.
  • Enhancing Egypt’s position in global digital transformation indicators.

One of the key goals of the initiative is to foster collaboration between startups and various stakeholders to design and implement solutions that enhance the quality of government services. By leveraging the expertise of participating startups, it aims to revamp government services design and delivery to citizens.. Through a life-event-based service design approach, startups will work alongside government agencies and citizens to create intuitive, personalized, and responsive digital public services.

The initiative’s program lasts from three to five months and includes:

  • Business acceleration program: Facilitating startups’ access to intensive training, mentoring, and networking opportunities.
  • Enhancing collaboration: Among startups, citizens, government entities, and private sector companies to design and implement customized solutions to meet societal needs.

Startups accepted into the GovTech Innovation Lab program will not only receive support during the initial acceleration phase but also benefit from a 6-month post-support program. This post-support program aims to help startups overcome challenges and achieve long-term success by providing mentorship, networking opportunities, access to workshops and events, and potential partnership opportunities. Additionally, selected startups will have the chance to develop mini-apps ready for deployment in a superapp environment, generating valuable data-driven insights for policy and decision makers.

The selection process for the GovTech Innovation Lab will be with criteria focused on the viability, feasibility, and desirability of startup solutions. Startups must demonstrate an innovative approach to addressing societal challenges, a strong team committed to the program, and a clear vision for integrating their solutions with government services.

With the support of MCIT, GIZ, and collaboration with industry partners like Flat6labs, Robusta, UNTAP, We Code for You, zero360 and other partners, the initiative offers startups a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on Egypt's digital transformation journey.
