8 years 11 months ago

Looking forward to the day when transportation will be smarter and more reliable? Well, you are about to witness what you wished for. Last week, Ford announced that they will be testing their self-driving car in California roads by 2016. The testing will be handled by their Research and Innovation Center. Speaking of the car's unique specs, Ford's team has developed a sensor fusion, which enables the car to view 360-degree of its surroundings. Moreover, the car has a pedestrian detection software which enables cameras to sense pedestrians and hence the car stops.

The car has been tested before on roads of Michigan, but researchers believe that driving in California will give the car more real-world experience. Ford has been building out their research team with the aim of exploring future mobility solutions. With this initiative, Ford commits to the aspiration of Silicon Valley to have more self-driving automobiles.
