Basel Rahmy: MSMEDA Committed to Fostering a Promising Generation of Young Entrepreneurs
Basel Rahmy, CEO of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (MSMEDA), met with a team of young entrepreneurs specializing in incorporating lavender into eco-friendly products. Dr. Raafat Abbas, Vice CEO, and other agency leaders also attended the meeting.
Rahmy reviewed the innovative ideas presented by the young team. He discussed providing them with the necessary technical support to participate in local and international competitions, and to transform their ideas into successful economic projects in the future. This initiative aligns with MSMEDA's commitment to preparing new generations for entrepreneurship, encouraging young innovators, and promoting a culture of green economy and sustainable development among future generations.
Supporting Young Talent
In a statement, Rahmy affirmed MSMEDA's dedication to supporting these children and their innovative ideas, working to prepare them for a promising industrial future. This includes teaching them the fundamental principles for transforming their nascent ideas into viable and economically feasible projects, in collaboration with their families and without impacting their academic lives.
He added that Egyptian children possess the talents and creative abilities necessary to successfully launch into entrepreneurship. He emphasized that the state, through all its agencies and institutions, is working to support these generations and provide them with the necessary assistance at various stages of their development to enable their future success and growth.
Providing a Supportive Environment
Rahmy indicated that MSMEDA will provide them with essential workshops on business plan development, presentation skills, and communication. The agency will also work to connect them with investor networks and business incubators in the future.
Dr. Mai El-Drawy stated that her children, Yahya and Youssef, along with their friends Mariam and Mounir—all in primary school—showed a passion for entrepreneurship and innovation after winning top places in a school competition. This encouraged them to explore participating in major international competitions and to turn their innovative ideas into an entrepreneurial project.
She added that the team has innovative ideas for manufacturing green handicrafts and healthy food products from lavender, ensuring these products are environmentally friendly and can be developed into full-fledged projects.
She noted that they sought out MSMEDA to receive specialized training, support, and guidance, and to benefit from the expertise that could help the team win various entrepreneurship competitions and assist them in establishing their own project with a sound feasibility study in the future.
