Octane, a leading provider of digital payment solutions for fleets, has announced the launch of its new “O-Tolls” service in partnership with the National Company for Roads Building and Development Management.
With this launch, Octane becomes the first company in Egypt to digitize payments for road toll gates and weighbridges for light, medium, and heavy trucks nationwide using Near Field Communication (NFC) technology.
Empowering Logistics Companies
This step aims to enable logistics companies and transport fleets to pass smoothly and securely through more than 500 toll gates and weighbridges across Egypt.
The service helps eliminate challenges associated with cash handling and paper-based expense settlements, and supports the transformation of the transportation sector, one of the most cash-dependent industries, into a fully integrated digital ecosystem aligned with the state’s financial inclusion strategy and Egypt Vision 2030.
Secure Payments
The new service enables instant and secure digital payments while allowing companies to monitor all road payment transactions in real time. This enhances oversight and transparency, improves financial planning and fleet management efficiency, reduces fraud and waste risks, enhances the driver experience, and minimizes stop times.
The O-Tolls service carries strategic importance, as toll gate fees represent a major component of operating costs, accounting for approximately 10% to 15% of total operating expenses (OPEX) for logistics and distribution companies.
Largest Fleet Payments Network
Commenting on the launch, Amr Gamal, Co-Founder and CEO of Octane, said:“The launch of O-Tolls reinforces Octane’s position as the largest integrated digital payments network for fleets in the Egyptian market. We are committed to digitizing all vehicle-related spending to help organizations shift from fragmented, cash-based operating systems to a unified digital model that delivers accurate visibility into spending and improves financial planning.”
He added:“The strong market response, with more than 100 companies joining within the first month alone, reflects the transportation and logistics sector’s demand for practical technology solutions that improve operational efficiency and ensure full cost control.”
