6 days 12 hours ago

According to Waya, Flat6Labs, a leading early-stage VC firm in MENA, has partnered with Tamwilcom, Morocco’s national financing institution, to launch a new accelerator initiative aimed at empowering startups across key sectors including AgriTech, FinTech, digital health, AI, GreenTech, and big data. The collaboration is designed to fast-track startup growth through targeted mentorship, funding, and technical support.

A Push for Innovation and Private Sector Growth

The initiative is part of a broader effort to strengthen Morocco’s entrepreneurial ecosystem by encouraging innovation and enhancing private sector development. It builds on a strategic agreement signed in December 2023 between Tamwilcom and the International Finance Corporation (IFC), aimed at enabling early-stage Moroccan startups to access capital and scale their operations.

Institutional Backing with Regional Expertise

Hicham Zanati Serghini, General Manager of Tamwilcom, emphasized that the partnership reflects Tamwilcom’s continued efforts to empower high-potential Moroccan startups. Flat6Labs will spearhead the design and rollout of the program, bringing in its proven experience in startup acceleration, business development, and investment readiness.

Supporting the Digital Economy

According to David Tinel, IFC’s Regional Representative for the Maghreb, this initiative is a critical step toward enhancing Morocco’s investment landscape and promoting digital transformation. By improving access to early-stage finance, the program aligns with the country’s vision for innovation-led, sustainable economic growth.
