Transparent Solar Panels

5 years 1 month ago

Opportunity

The sides of skyscrapers face sunrays and absorb a lot of sunlight. Turning the windows into solar panels would generate a lot of electricity, however dark solar panels wouldn’t let the light into the buildings.

Solution

Scientists invented almost transparent solar panels that are embedded with tiny particles of silicon that absorb some of the short wavelength, when the wavelength reaches the edge of the solar panels, tiny solar cells convert them into electricity. Scientists are still working on resolving some technical issues, so the panels will not be ready for another few years.
