MO4 Network Teams Up With Facebook To Bring Egypt’s First VR Lab and Incubation Program
MO4 Network - one of the region's leading digital creative agencies – teams up with the social media giant as the first recipient of Facebook's Virtual Reality Grant in the region, with the aim to bring Egypt the first Virtual Reality Lab and VR incubation program.
With the Facebook Virtual Reality Grant – an effort by the social media giant to stimulate the VR developer ecosystem in the Middle East – MO4 Network will become home to a dedicated virtual reality lab, where gamers, geeks and artists alike can get hands-on with the latest technology and let their imagination run free.
MO4 Network also announced the opening of applications here for those looking to incubate their Oculus app at the lab. They are required to submit a project brief, which includes an expected timeline for completion, as well as a summary of their technical and creative abilities. After their acceptance, they will be scheduled into the VR lab rota with sessions allocated to them depending on the needs and complexity of the project.
These individuals or teams will also be offered creative consultancy from MO4 Network staff, from game design and cinematography, to sound design, narrative and script writing, as well as mentorship on marketing, pitching and strategic partnerships from other departments, depending on their needs.
MO4 Network has also teamed up with RiseUp – the Middle East’s biggest tech and entrepreneurship summit – to offer graduates from the incubation program an unparalleled opportunity to present their finalized apps and experiences to a panel of VR experts and investors at Rise-Up 2017.
“The MENA region is ripe with talent. With 158 million people on Facebook and 63 million on Instagram in MENA, supporting regional talent and giving developers access to new tech is key in order to push the boundaries and explore new opportunities”, said Zak El Fassi, Product Partnerships Manager at Facebook.
Access to the virtual reality lab will be open to the public on two levels: the first is for those with experience in the creation of virtual reality applications and have a specific Oculus app planned. The second will be for those who want to simply experiment and experience VR technology as an entry point to the blossoming industry.
