Startups are expected to embrace social responsibility, and Homzmart is leading by example. Homzmart, the leading platform for furniture and home goods in Egypt and Saudi Arabia and a subsidiary of HMZ Group, has signed a cooperation protocol with Misr El-Kheir Foundation under the “Herfetak Forsetak” (Your Craft, Your Opportunity) initiative. The partnership aims to train and qualify graduates of industrial secondary schools in furniture-related crafts, as part of Homzmart’s CSR strategy to empower youth and provide them with real employment opportunities.

Hands-on Training
Under this protocol, Homzmart will host a number of industrial school graduates from Cairo for practical training at “Joint Factory,” one of HMZ Group’s facilities located in 6th of October City. The factory is among the most advanced furniture manufacturing facilities in Egypt, equipped with state-of-the-art production lines and machinery, and operated by a highly skilled workforce. Homzmart will also offer employment opportunities at Joint Factory for outstanding trainees, opening promising career pathways for them in the job market.

Supporting the Egyptian Furniture Sector
The protocol was signed by Mohamed Shalaby, Chief Operating Officer at Homzmart, and Dr. Saber Hassan from Misr El-Kheir Foundation, in the presence of senior executives from both sides. This collaboration reinforces Homzmart’s commitment to supporting the Egyptian furniture sector, one of the country’s most important industries, by enhancing the capabilities of young talent and equipping them with the technical and practical skills needed to integrate into the labor market.

Employment Opportunities
Commenting on the signing, Mohamed Shalaby, COO of Homzmart, said: “This cooperation represents a milestone in Homzmart’s social responsibility programs. It bridges technical education with practical application and provides real employment opportunities for young people upon completing their training. At Homzmart, we are committed to supporting the Egyptian furniture sector, one of the key pillars of local manufacturing, by developing young talent and equipping them with essential practical and technical skills to thrive in the workforce. This protocol highlights the success of partnerships between the private sector and civil society in supporting sustainable development efforts and enhancing the competitiveness of Egyptian furniture regionally and internationally.”

Upskilling Youth
For his part, Dr. Saber Hassan, Head of the Education Sector at Misr El-Kheir Foundation, stated that the collaboration between the Foundation and Homzmart one of the leading companies in the furniture and home décor industry, aims to launch an integrated training program designed to prepare young people for the job market and equip them with hands-on craftsmanship skills required in the furniture and décor sector.

Skill-Based Training
Dr. Hassan explained that the program will provide free vocational and craft training to youth, with a strong focus on practical application aligned with the needs of the job market. The program also offers direct employment opportunities for top-performing trainees, who will be selected to join Joint Factory, part of HMZ Group.

Supporting Community Development
He emphasized that this collaboration reflects Misr El-Kheir Foundation’s commitment to supporting community development and economically empowering young people. At the same time, it highlights Homzmart’s role in fostering community partnerships that create added value and open new avenues for development. He noted that this model of cooperation between civil society and the private sector is a significant step toward linking training with employment, providing real job opportunities that help reduce unemployment and build a skilled, competitive youth workforce.

High-Quality Furniture Manufacturing
Joint Factory is the first of its kind in Egypt and the Middle East dedicated to producing high-quality home furniture, with investments exceeding USD 1 million. The factory spans an area of 10,000 square meters and has an annual production capacity of nearly 60,000 furniture pieces, positioning it among the largest specialized home furniture factories in the Egyptian market.
