ASU Racing Teams Wins First Place At Formula Competition

A team from Ain Shams University has participated in Formula Student Global Competition for 2016 that is held on Silverstone Formula 1’s track in Northampton, England during the period of 14th to 18th of July. The competition is held on in many countries within the year and the strongest and most difficult one is held on in England as it consists of 2 parts:

The first part is Class 1 where the universities are designing and fabricating a small race car, to participate with it in a race where to check its performance in racing, control, and stamina. Moreover, the students are being tested in designing ideas, marketing, how to fabricate the car, its cost and how the students are able to minimize the cost by using different and simple fabrication techniques, however, our team has got the 6th place from about 112 participated worldwide universities.

The students are being tested in marketing their product, selling it and make market surveys, where the team has got the 2nd place globally and the 1st place among Arabs, Africans and Middle east where it is an unprecedented achievement that never been achieved before by any other university. The team has got the 63rd place in the whole race result superior to many European universities and all Arabian and Egyptian teams.

The second part is Class 2 where the teams are just designing the car without fabricating it. Moreover, the teams are being tested in design, fabrication, and marketing where our team has got the 1st place in marketing where the Head of judges has said: “ It is the first time for an Egyptian team to get a prize in this competition, congratulations Ain Shams University”. Also, the team has got the 4th place in the design and also the 4th place in general among 22 teams superior to teams from England and Germany.

The team has participated in the both parts and they made great achievements. It is the first time for an Egyptian, Arabian or African team to go up on the podium achieving the 1st place in marketing.Moreover, the team is participating in other competitions like Shell Race which aims for designing a car that can move the longest distance with only 1 liter of gasoline. Also, they participate in Global Hybrid Electric Challenge competition, especially for electric hybrid vehicles.
