The Central bank of Egypt developed the program to support the FinTech solutions throughout their various stages, from ideation to deployment in the market. The program includes solution development advisory, matchmaking with banks for deployment in the Egyptian market and regulatory guidance & navigation for licensing purposes.

The Central Bank of Egypt believes in keeping up with rapid developments in financial technology and striving to achieve an optimal balance between ensuring financial stability and consumer protection while advancing beneficial innovation to serve the banking and financial sectors in Egypt as well. To this end, the Regulatory Sandbox offers a live testing environment for FinTech innovators who are developing new business models that are currently hindered by stringent authorization requirements and regulatory uncertainty. The purpose of the Regulatory Sandbox is to pave the way for faster and easier access to new financial solutions and embed compliance within the FinTech ecosystem at an early stage. This will not only allow FinTech innovators to focus on their core offering but also ensure that consumers and other players in the market are not adversely affected by the regulatory uncertainty of the disruptive FinTech activities. FinTech startups and financial institutions can apply to test their innovative applications in a live environment under the guidance and supervision of the sandbox team in the Central Bank of Egypt.

Establishing a network of technological Incubators , under the umbrella of the National Incubator Program ‘INTILAC’ by the end of 2018 , covering the different regions in Egypt starting from Delta to upper Egypt, that will be able to change the technological and innovative ideas and the outputs of the basic researches to final products that have economical and technological competitive edges in the current eco-system.
